Truth be told, I don't know if every place I've lived has had great bike trails and I just didn't notice, or Rochester and Westchester are special; I'm just going to go with the latter until proven otherwise by living somewhere else awesome. In any case, I love the idea of biking all the way through Westchester county, but you can't quite do that yet. In fact, I've been quite frustrated even with this map because it is hard to see where to get ON to the trail (particularly when it needs to involve parking a car) and exactly where there are breaks in the trail (this is more between the bronx river & northern trails) where you need to do some street riding which, quite frankly, I'm terrified of.
But Monday was a really great day - we biked from Ardsley in Westchester to Van Cortland Park in the Bronx and back. I clocked it at about 16.5 miles, Serg did at 20 miles. Either way, a very good start to my summer of biking! Of course, my bum and thighs are mighty sore today, but that's a small price to pay, yes?
